Homemade Hand Sanitizer
Homemade Hand Sanitizer
Lately hand sanitizer has been in high demand, as has rubbing alcohol. This recipe for an effective and easy to make homemade version uses Everclear vodka, which is available at your local discount liquor store. The additions of aloe vera and Vitamin E give a little extra nourishment to the skin as the high percentage alcohol disinfects. You can add essential oils to the mix for added antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antimicrobial action. Lavender is probably the most useful essential oil on the market and I highly recommend that everyone keep a bottle in their pharmacopia. I use it to relax in the bath, in my all-purpose cleaning spray, with my dryer balls in the dryer, and in my beauty products.
Learning how to make our own personal care products is an extremely rewarding and empowering journey toward sustainability and sovereignty. Not only can we reduce our expenses and minimize the chemicals we ingest into our bodies, but we can also mitigate our personal impact on the planet by minimizing plastic packaging and industrial chemical waste. Not to mention making our own products allows us to personalize them to our individual needs and maximize our benefits.
